New Orleans Pelicans big man Zion Williamson is currently gearing up for his second go-round atop the highest level after encountering an injury-plagued rookie season in 2019-20.
After one season as a member of the Duke Blue Devils, becoming the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft and getting his first taste of NBA action, it appears the Pelicans’ rising star is ready to take the next step in 2020-21.
However, before he takes the floor for his second NBA season, the Pelicans big man has to get one thing straightened out first: his NBA 2K21 rating. During the team’s recent media day, Zion personally FaceTimed Ronnie 2K in order to get his rating shifted to a more appropriate figure before the start of the 2020-21 regular season.
Apparently, Zion was rated 81 overall, but Ronnie 2K said it was a mistake and that he should be an 86.
With longtime NBA head coach Stan Van Gundy now pacing the sidelines in New Orleans, the up-and-coming Pelicans have a legitimate shot at making some noise in the Western Conference this time around.
While Zion Williamson and the Pelicans still have some work to do in order to hang with the best of the best in the West, there is no reason that they can’t sneak in the playoffs in 2020-21.
In addition to Williamson, Van Gundy also has the likes of point guard Lonzo Ball, forward Brandon Ingram, shooting guard JJ Redick, center Steven Adams, swingman Josh Hart, big man Jaxson Hayes, veteran point guard Eric Bledsoe and others at his disposal.
