Rocket League Camera Settings & Controller Guide

Tuesday, July 18, 2017 7:01:36 PM America/Los_Angeles

Rocket League might resemble a straightforward and casual game at first glance, but once you spend some time with it you understand that it is far from this. Rocket League has a fairly higher skill ceiling and if you want to make it to the top you'll want to have every advantage possible. In our Rocket League Camera Settings & Controller Guide we want to provide some recommendations on which configurations to tune and which control to select.

Optimal Rocket League camera configurations so that you can command your car as just as possible. In this guide we'll help you get started with fine tuning the game so as to get the very best performance possible.

It is obviously to identify exactly what the finest Rocket League Camera Settings are supposed to be. We've examined close to a hundred specialist Rocket League players in our Rocket League Camera Settings List to provide you a great start to tune the settings to your liking.

Best Controller for Rocket League

As there's no massive variety within the favorite controller options (there is no difference in sensor or side buttons etc. such as with computer mice) it is mostly up to what kind of shape and texture you prefer your controller to get. The DualShock 4 has mostly the same features as the Xbox controls, although the Xbox One Elite controller and Razer Raiju both sport additional triggers and buttons, so in case you really feel as though you'd benefit from having these additional means of input and you have got the money to spare then by all means go for those.

A small but important side note; the Dualshock 4 works seamlessly with Rocket League on PC so you can just plug it into your USB port and start playing without having to download third party applications.

Most Used Controllers for Rocket League

It's no secret that Rocket League is best played with a controller. Which one you use is mainly up to preference. Most of our professionals choose the DualShock 4 and around some choose to utilize the DualShock 3. Xbox controls are the 2nd most popular alternative. They are used by about 16\% of Rocket League professionals within their various varieties (it is about a 60/40 split between the Xbox One controller along with the Xbox 360 control) and one pro chooses for your Xbox One Elite controller. There's also 1 professional who utilizes a Razer Raiju.

Best Rocket League Camera Settings

The camera settings for Rocket League are very important as they can drastically change the way you experience the game. It is important to discover configurations here that work for you, as opposed to copying the settings of your favourite professional. That being said though; it might be a good idea to use the configurations used by our professionals as a starting point for configuring your personal camera settings.

The cam settings are for the most part up to preference but that does not mean there aren't some settings that can make.

Camshake

Is off with each pro we've examined up to now. That is because it serves no purpose to this game whatsoever. What it does is it gets the 'camera' shake somewhat to be able to simulate rate and 'chaos', so to speak. This makes the game a bit more immersive and might be a good idea in a story driven game but in a competitive setting it serves no use whatsoever. You would like your vision to be steady and clear as possible and you will want to eliminate every potential diversion so turn camshake off to get a more neutral and clear experience.

FOV

Stands for Field of View, i.e. your cone of vision. The higher that is, the bigger your cone of vision will be and the more you can see of the playing field. Turn down this too low and you will quite literally have tunnel vision. Obviously you're at a disadvantage if you can not see regions of the playing field in a game where you want a good summary of the pitch at all times, so most professionals choose to turn this setting to the greatest possible, which will be 110.

Approximately 70\% of our professionals use the maximum FOV of 110. None of the professionals that we have examined has a FOV of under 100, which further indicates that at the greatest levels it's extremely important to have a good, broad perspective of the pitch. It's probably best to emulate this, since you don't wish to be put at a disadvantage by visiting less of the field than your opponents do.

Distance

This is the true distance between your car and the camera. This is one of those configurations where it comes down to personal taste. A greater camera distance means you are going to have a better perspective of the ball and what is going on about it because the camera is farther away (thus giving you a better review) but you do generally have a harder time judging when your car is going to hit the ball, for example. Thus a high space generally means you are going to find a better review, but you get rid of a little 'private' touch with your car and the chunk. It is up to you to choose which is better for you, but the professionals do generally concur on a certain range of distances so there's something to say for using a setting within these parameters.

The average distance that the professionals use is around 270.
