Thursday, March 3, 2016 11:08:30 AM America/Los_Angeles

The Ottawa Senators announced they have signed veteran forward Scott Gomez for the rest of the season. The team has a hole within their lineup with Kyle Turris outside injured and together with the trade deadline passed, the Sens added - through free agency.

The deal comes only a day after the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League mutually as well as Gomez agreed to stop his professional tryout contract after 18 matches.

Where he was truly special in the Blues, Gomez went to Hershey. In only 18 matches with all the team he'd 24 points. That's some serious generation in a league where it may be tough to score even though it had been at the AHL level.

Based on reports, Gomez is getting a prorated one-year , so deal $575,000 he is cheap and he is coming off of some truly excellent in the AHL.

Gomez former Calder Trophy winner and has a is an expert of 1,066 NHL matches, is his name on the Stanley Cup twice . Yet, as we have all found over time, Gomez definitely is not a leading company at the NHL level.

Gomez can play and he is going into a team that desperately wanted some expert help.
