P.K. Subban released from hospital with 'non-serious neck injury'

Saturday, March 12, 2016 10:04:00 AM America/Los_Angeles

There was a frightful scene late in the Montreal Canadiens' 3-2 win over the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday night when star defenseman P.K. Subban had to be stretchered off the ice following a scary collision with teammate Alexei Emelin.

There is better news on Friday morning.

The Canadiens declared that Subban continues to be released in the hospital after complete testing and that he endured a "non-serious neck injury."

It's going to be the very first game he's missed since the 2012-13 season.

His unfortuante harm on Thursday continued what is a miserable season for the Canadiens as they've turned what was the greatest start in franchise history into among the worst in-season falls in NHL history. Injuries have surely played a part in all that, particularly as it pertains to starting goaltender Carey Price.

Subban has been among the few consistent bright areas on the team this year, leading the team in scoring (as a defenseman) with 51 points in 68 games.
