The New York Rangers and New York Islanders don't need much to let tempers flare between the two sides, but both clubs certainly have some players that could be considered accelerants to the rivalry's fire.
Two such players would be Islanders forward Cal Clutterbuck and Tanner Glass of the Rangers. The two got into a little bit of a chirping contest, which apparently also involved the Rangers' head athletic trainer for some reason, and ended with Glass going to one of the classic taunts from third-grade recess.
Yeah, he called Clutterbuck chicken, complete with flapping wings and chicken sound effects.
Unfortunately, MSG Network's between-the-benches reporter John Giannone didn't have a strong enough mic to pick up the chicken noises, but he offered a little bit of play-by-play. He also revealed that the person who drew Clutterbuck's ire initially was indeed the head trainer for the Rangers.
The schoolyard taunts did little to deter Clutterbuck and the Islanders, though. They scored three third-period goals to earn a 3-1 win over their local rivals.
