The Broncos are swimming in dangerous waters in terms of holding onto their season. They need Peyton Manning to get healthy and return or for Brock Osweiler to live up to his draft status.
Hope they weren't counting on Manning spending a ton of time coaching Osweiler up because according to a report from James Palmer of NFL Network, Peyton hasn't even spoken to his backup this week.
NFL Media's James Palmer reported on NFL Network's TNF Gameday that Manning, who has been ruled out of Sunday's matchup against the Bears, hasn't attended any practices or meetings this week and hasn't had a single conversation about Sunday's game plan with Brock Osweiler, the fourth-year quarterback set to make his first career start.
Not even a single conversation!
It's OK, though. First off, Peyton needs to work on getting healthy. And secondly, Osweiler is looking "really good," according to linebacker Brandon Marshall.
"Oh, he's ready. He looks good," Marshall said. "He looks really good. I'm excited, and I think everybody is excited to have him out there."
Everything's fun and games until the real action starts flying. But if Osweiler comes out and starts winging it around against the Bears, there's going to be a lot of awkwardness when it comes to Peyton's future. A lot more than any non-talking involves.
