Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry may be the best shooter in the NBA, but on Saturday night he could not best his teammate and fellow Splash Brother Klay Thompson in the Three-point Contest.
After failing to defend his three-point title, Curry suggested to reporters that Saturday's contest may have been his last one ever.
Curry has been in the Three-Point Contest five times already and is tied with Thompson with the most points (27) ever in the competition. The Warriors guard won the contest just once though, in 2015, and has been in it for the last four years.
Five is a lot of times to compete in an event so it makes sense that Curry is done with the Three-Point Contest. Curry is also one of the faces of the NBA, an extremely popular player that is quite busy during All-Star Weekend, attending numerous media and sponsor events. On top of all of that, Curry also has to play in the actual All-Star Game. and adding a competion like the Three-Point Contest, which requires practice and is quite tiring for being such a short event, will likely wear out the best of the best.
Curry may not be in any future Three-Point Contests anymore but that's OK. After all, he can still delight us during actual games with long-distance bombs.
