The Calgary Flames' playoff hopes that were dense took another hit when it had been declared that goaltender Karri Ramo will not be in for the rest of the season. Calgary GM Brad Treliving declared that Ramo suffered damage to a torn ACL as well as his meniscus in last Thursday's match from the San Jose Sharks. The 29-year old goaltender is likely to need 6 to 8 months to recuperate.
This harm is beating on several degrees.
There was some equilibrium with Ramo between the conduits, although the goaltending situation in Calgary has been far from perfect.
The Flames must turn to expert goalie Jonas Hiller, that has fought this season. Hiller has appeared in only 19 games and has posted an .889 save percentage. Joni Ortio, that has appeared in 5 matches this season should see time.
The playoffs are a longshot as it stands now. The Flames are nine points from the past wild card position and have not played almost enough to be considered a real risk to break through with 27 matches to go.
